My first true milestone...

It finally happened. I reached a milestone in my trading journey this week and I left it right until the last day to achieve it. I booked a 100+ point week. That's a hundred points in profit, not loss, just to clarify ;)

As I was looking through my daily/ weekly review I came to the realisation that up until Thursday I was 57 points in profit which I was happy with, until I looked at what I could've had if I had stuck to my strategy religiously. I was 130 point behind what I could've had. That's a lot. That's way too much to ignore. So with a sense of commitment and a tiny little bit of disgust at myself and my lack of discipline, I vowed to trade my strategy exactly no matter the outcome. After all, trading, in the opinion of myself and that of many others is about the process and our ability to follow it, not the result. Well, when the smoke had cleared and I looked at my transaction history in the broker, I realised I had made 53 points from my two trades, one DAX and the other FTSE. This took my tally for the week across the imaginary threshold of 100 points.

Now, I am well aware and also believe that we shouldn't celebrate wins in trading, nor should we dwell or rue our losses, instead we should treat both as equals and not let either stir the pot of emotions inside us, but, I do very much believe we should celebrate our own personal milestones because they help to reinforce our belief that we can achieve that which we think we are capable of, and they are the proof.

So I did just that. I raised a beer to myself and I sat, smiling, in quiet contentment of how it felt to finally achieve a goal I've have had since I began my trading journey.
